Self-isolation rules to remain until August 16, say ministers

Ministers have insisted that self-isolation rules will not change until August 16 despite mounting pressure from business and MPs to deal with increasing disruption they are causing.

Nadhim Zahawi, the vaccines minister, said that quarantine requirements for those who had been in contact with someone who has coronavirus were “an important precautionary measure” and needed to stay until vaccine coverage is higher.
